The boat is considered to be the oldest form of marine transport that had been invented in prehistoric ages for sailing through the water bodies of the earth. Now there are different types of boats available in the world, which vary according to their structures and functions. Only a few of boat types are discussed here.
Fishing boat – This type of boat is particularly used by the professional fishermen and thus, it is provided with all the properties suited for the purpose of safe fishing out in the deep sea. Hence, it is built with immense strength and high mobility, to allow it to stand all the odd circumstances while sailing in the water for many hours. Now the fishing boat made of aluminium is more preferred due to its lightness and better durability. Moreover, many modern features are added for the further safety of the onboard fishermen; like rod locking system, motorized trolling mechanism and the specially designed front bow.
Catamaran boat – It is a type of sailing boat that consists of many hulls for providing better security to the boat floating on the water. A catamaran is used for both pleasure trips and also for small-scale fishing. Usually, maximum three hulls can be provided to these boats that may be termed as trimaran boat as well.
Dinghy boat – It is a small-sized boat that is now made of rubber and usually operated with the help of oars. Only a couple of people can ride this boat and usually, a dinghy boat is seen to be attached with large ships, for evacuating the passengers on emergency condition. Some people also use this boat for short expeditions and pleasure fishing.
Houseboats – It is a type of luxury boat that contains all the facilities one may expect at home. This large-sized boat is mainly used for recreational purpose and seen only at the vital tourist spots. All types of entertainments and water activities are provided to the passengers to make sure of a memorable holiday trip for them while staying in these houseboats.
Deck boat – This type of boat is mainly used for holding parties and thus provided with a long deck that ranges from 25 to 35 feet in length. The open deck is adorned with plenty of comfortable seats for the guests and a V-shaped hull for a luxurious and safe voyage. Many people also hire these deck boats for enjoying several adventurous water sports with their friends and family members.
Motor yacht – Generally, a motor yacht is made to be longer than 12 feet and it is usually used for recreational purposes. This boat is provided with one or more diesel engines for the safeguard of the passengers while travelling on the sea or large rivers. People hire it for enjoying long pleasure trips on the water.
Sailboat – This boat mainly consists of a mast and a large sail for navigating safely through the water. People love to enjoy the fresh air while sailing on this boat and it depends on the flow of the winds for sailing in the right direction. However, now multiple hulls and other mechanisms are provided for better safety.
